We are deep in the throws of mid-summer disc golf season so I hope everybody is rounding into shape nicely. Nationals is picking up steam as the days grow nearer.
First off, don’t forget registration closes July 17th, so if you are sitting on the fence or know a fence sitter, now is the time to make the move. The last few nationals have set the bar and we are confident that this year’s event will raise it a notch higher. Our focus is on making this event an experience you won’t soon forget and the only way to experience it is to be here!
When you do get here we have lots of goodies in store. Our Flex Start C-Tiers are open now. https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/Nationals_Week_Flex_Start_C_Tier_2018
These are one round events that you can play any time during the posted hours. Wednesday will be played at the Huck-it course from 730-330, and Thursday will be at Hillcrest. A small note of change for the Hillcrest Flex Start will be closing at 1:30 pm (players must register between 7:30am – 1:30pm) as we have decided to bump up the time for Champs vs Chumps so we can play the long tees. I mean if we’re going to do it, lets do it right and see what those chumps really got.
While we are on the topic the tickets for Champs vs Chumps can be found here: http://centralcoastdg.com/product-category/champ-vs-chumps-tickets/
A 40$ ticket will get you a hole vs Simon Lizotte and Paige Pierce. There is also a way to register to volunteer with CCDG and perhaps earn a free hole against the Champs. Tee off will be at 2:00pm sharp at Hillcrest. Bring your ‘A’ game because this will be on the internet for a long, long, time…
Don’t forget following the Champs vs Chumps our players meeting (8pm) and early check (starting at 6:30pm) in will be held in Charlottetown at the Beer Gardens, http://beergardenpei.com/ which is about a 25-30 minute drive away. We strongly encourage all participants come so we can fill you in on the courses and all the goodies we have been working on.
We have also decided to make the caddy book into digital form and will be releasing a PDF of all the pertinent information in early September. We will still have a physical copy of course maps and rules in your players pack for those of you who prefer the more traditional “book app” aka paper.
We are also pleased to announce that Dustin Keegan and Peter McBride are going to run a Dynamic workshop for any and all interested players on Tuesday, Sept. 12th at 530pm at the Beech Hill course in Sackville, New Brunswick. This event will run at the same time as the women’s clinic in Dieppe (roughly 20 minutes away all on the mainland). The cost of this clinic is $30 and will come with some free Dynamic swag. Interested players should email firstname.lastname@example.org and put Sackville clinic in the title line to reserve a spot.
As I am sure you are all aware, Dynamic Discs is our title sponsor and because of that we are working on ways to have them help us knock this event out of the park. More details will be made available as soon as we have conformation on some of the extras we are trying to squeeze in.
We would also love to welcome our newest sponsor, The PEI Hand Pie Company! http://handpie.ca/ Hand pies are exactly what you’d expect them to be, hand held pies that come in a variety of flavours from sweet to savoury. Their shop is located conveniently between the two courses and will be a must stop for all players and fans of good food. These folks are doing great things are a big supporter of disc golf on the island so lets all show them some love. Believe me it is well worth the stop!
Last but not least we have been receiving a good number of volunteer requests. Anyone who wishes to volunteer some of their time should send an email to (go figure…) email@example.com, this time mark volunteer in the title line. Anyone who volunteers 15 or more hours over the week will receive an Am players pack, and will also be filled with the sweet sensation of knowing you helped make the biggest PDGA event in Canadian history a success.
Our event will be one of the last chances to qualify for the 2018 USDGC. As long as you are playing in an Open and your score is in the top qualifying spots you will earn your way to this historic event.
Don’t forget that our players banquet is included in your tournament entry fees. The banquet will be held rain or shine on the sweet seaside landscape of Lord’s Seaside Cabins. This is a can’t miss part of our Nationals so book yourself a free night on Sat and bring whatever you need to comfy for an evening at the beach. We will have amazing food, a washer toss event, practice baskets, door prizes and maritime hospitality out the wazoo, so you just need to bring yourself to have a good time. If you play an instrument or have a good lawn chair, bring it along as well.
